This post is to announce the grand opening of the Synthia Kavin Learning Center…. also known as our new homeschool. So just who is Synthia Kavin? Louie entered Kaitrinn, Shealyn, and Gavin into an anagram builder and found Synthia Kavin Learning as one of the possibilities. Ta Dah! Our search for a name is over. *laugh* My initial choices had been Hannen Hall, Hannen House, or (simply) The Learning Center. Now the center just has a name added to it.
After several years of consideration, we have finally decided to start homeschooling. Kaitrinn will be pulled out on Sept. 5th when her class tracks out. I will also start teaching Shealyn some of the Kindergarten material this Fall. Wish us luck on our journey! We’re very excited about it all.

Shealyn took a few years of my life today. When getting out of the van, she opens her own door, hops down, closes the door, and walks around to where I’m getting Gavin out. Hmmm… well not today! She opened her door and promptly fell face first to the blacktop below. I rushed around to the other side and quickly picked her up only to discover that the entire right side of her face was covered with blood. EEK! First thought? What’s the quickest route to the hospital?? It was everywhere. After scrambling for wipes and trying to clean her up, I eventually discovered all of this mess was streaming from a tiny nick on her forehead.. no bigger than 1/8 of an inch long. Are you kidding me!? I got it to stop, calmed her down, and headed home to clean her up. She had blood stains down the front of her dress and hair matted to the side of her face. After just a few minutes on the road, she started crying again because she didn’t get a book. Ugh! We were going to the bookstore when this whole ordeal happened. We’ll return another day Honey… I promise! After a traumatic shower and a blob of Neosporin (don’t even THINK about suggesting a bandaid to her), she is now showing off her cut/bump/scrape with pride and is excited for it to bruise because she “likes purple!”
